Apollo 13
Telescopic photograph of Apollo 13 spacecraft in translunar trajectory

A telescopic photograph showing the Apollo 13 spacecraft in translunar trajectory in the distant sky. Arrows point to the spacecraft, to the oxygen cloud, and to the expended Saturn V third stage. Apollo 13 was tracked at the Manned Spacecraft Center (MSC) using a 16-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope with an IO televison camera with an S-20 type IO tube, mounted in place of the eyepiece. The TV camera information is stored first on a data disc and played back on a viewing monitor from which this photograph was taken.
